Durpin Dara

Perched on top of the Kalimpong, Durpin Dara is one of the most popular tourist spots of this region that offers panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range, the Teesta River valley, and the surrounding hills. Being located at an elevation of 4,501ft the place is also known for offering one of the best sunrise and sunsets in the region. The hill is also home to Zong Dog Palri Fo-Brang Monastery, a beautiful Buddhist monastery adorned with prayer flags and enchanting monks that offer a serene atmosphere.

Deolo Hill

Deolo Hill, also known as Delo, is another scenic viewpoint offering stunning vistas of the Himalayas and the Teesta River. Placed at an elevation of 1,704m, this is the highest point of the Kalimpong town and a great place for relaxing amidst nature. Surrounded by green valleys and lush forest area this is an ideal place for picnicking, or enjoying a cup of coffee while taking in the majestic views of the Himalayas.

Morgan House

Built in 1864, the Morgan House is a heritage bungalow that once served as the summer residence of British officials. The place is mostly popular among tourists for its serene atmosphere and peaceful climatic conditions where you can sight rare bird species of the Himalayas. Today, it's a government-run tourist lodge offering a glimpse into colonial-era architecture and history.

Cactus Nursery

Located in the prominent part of Kalimpong, the cactus nursery also known as the Pine View Nursery is the major attraction point of this region. With over 1500 species of cactus collected from all over the world, this is the largest collection of cactus species in Asia and tourists visit a huge number. The nursery also houses multiple cacti that have been the procedure for over 4 decades and are a must-visit in Kalimpong.

Geden Tharpa Choling Monastery

Established in 1919, the Geden Tharpa Choeling Monastery is a beautiful monastery belonging to the Gelukpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. The place is popular for its peaceful vibe and calm atmosphere that attracts tourists from all over the country. The monastery also houses a magnificent statue of Shakyamuni Buddha and offers a serene atmosphere for meditation and contemplation.

Located within the outskirts of Kalimpong, Lava and Lolegaon is a gem of this region. Surrounded by lush tea gardens and majestic sightseeing attractions the place falls under the region of Neora Valley National Park and is one of the best places to visit near Kalimpong. Lava is also popular for its clean roads and unspoiled nature that attracts a wider variety of native and migrating bird species, making it a popular place among bird lovers.
